On Sunday, Kerala's Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reached out to his Himachal Pradesh counterpart, Sukhu, requesting immediate action to ensure the safety of 18 tourists from Kerala who are stranded due to sudden floods and landslides in the hilly state.
According to officials, this group is part of a tour organized by an agency based in Kochi and is currently stuck in Kalpa, Himachal Pradesh.
Vijayan urged the Himachal Pradesh government to take swift measures for the rescue of the tourists and to facilitate their safe return to Kerala.
An official statement indicated that Kerala officials are in continuous contact with their counterparts in Himachal Pradesh to coordinate the rescue efforts. The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and smooth return of those trapped.
The statement further noted that Chief Minister Vijayan expressed solidarity with the people of Himachal Pradesh affected by the natural disaster. Reports suggest that this group departed from Kerala for Manali on August 25, and the tourists hail from various regions of Kerala.
